A huge well done to the children who have received certificates for star of the week, presentation and handwriting and pen licence awards this week. Keep up the hard work!
Canaries have had a very full and fun week of learning. They have created their decorations and have hung them on the Christmas tree, ready for the festive season.
In music, we have been looking at other rock songs by different bands. We have listened and appraised the songs and compared them to the song we are focusing on: Livin' on a prayer by Bon Jovi. The children continued to practice playing the glockenspiel, focusing on creating the main beat to the song. We have also been practising our vocals as we sing along.
In Geography this week, Canaries have been looking at map scales. We measured the distance between different places around King's Lynn and then worked out how far that would be in real life.
In science, canaries have investigated if a mixture can be separated or not, by using filter paper, magnets, sieves. The mixtures we experimented with were: sand and water, peas and water, mud and water, sugar and water, coffee and water, gravel and water.
An adult led demonstration was also made using iron fillings, water and a magnet, as well as boiling salt water. This allowed for the water to evaporate, leaving the salt in the pan.
Next week:
Spellings will be sent home on Monday as normal.
Library books can be changed on a Thursday afternoon.
Please encourage your child to read at least 3 times a week.
