Week beginning 18.11.24

A huge well done to those children who have received certificates for star of the week, presentation and handwriting awards, free reader status and a pen licence. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations to the children who attended a netball tournament and came in first place.

In maths this week we have been working on subtraction using the column method. The children have been using concrete materials (counters) to help them subtract numbers and exchange them into different place value columns.

Canaries have been very excited about our science experiment this week. During our experiment, we took a liquid and a solid and created a mixture, using coffee, salt, sugar and sand. We then stirred the mixture to find out which ones dissolved. We discussed solubility, and how some substances are soluble and some are not.

In music, we have been playing the Glockenspiels to Livin' on a prayer. The children really enjoyed creating the beat and worked really hard to get their timings right. We have also been moving to the beat using different actions with our bodies to keep up with it.

Please encourage your child to read three times a week. Our time slot in the library is a Thursday afternoon. If your child would like to change their library book, this is their opportunity to do so.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Bussey, Mrs Gosling and Mrs Fyson.
