Magpies had visitors from the Guildhall this week to celebrate Shakespeare week!
We had two Stars of the Week once again! They were both celebrated for their resilience and the ability they showed last week in their maths assessments!
Magpies started off the week working hard to edit their adventure stories. They were reading to their partner to see if their partner could spot any mistakes.
Magpies took part in a SATs resilience workshop this week! With not long to go until the tests, they learnt how to keep calm and challenge any negative thoughts.
This week Magpies were introduced to the poem The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Lord Tennyson. They will be using the poem as inspiration for their next writing task.
On Friday morning, Magpies took part in a workshop about William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. They had three activities to take part in throughout the morning. The day started with a recap of the story featuring some fantastic hats and beards.
The first thing they took part in was costume design. The children had to pick a character from Twelfth Night and design a costume they thought the character would wear. They could keep the clothes Shakespearean or modernise them if they wished.
After this, Magpies took part in a soundscapes activity using instruments and sounds they made themselves to create a piece of music that was inspired by the play. Have a listen to the video below.
Finally, they took part in a dance activity where they learnt an interpretive dance and created balances based around the play.
