Fun Run fun!

Students and staff took part in a fun run on 24 February 2016. Everyone ran 500 metres each, resulting in a total distance equivalent to that of a marathon.

This was an energising “get active” event aimed at making exercise fun. Year groups took it in turns to complete their distances alongside their teachers.

Sam Blayney, the teacher behind the idea, said: “I hold a running club at lunchtime and the idea for the fun run spiralled from that. With the younger generation leading such a technology-based lifestyle now, I really believe in getting the children up and moving, to help them lead a healthy lifestyle and incorporate exercise in to their weekly routine. There was a great response to the idea of a school marathon and I think everyone has really enjoyed themselves.”
